Pontpren has been painstakingly restored with exposed stone walls, oak floors in the lounge and an oak stair case. People often comment that it is more spacious than it appears from the outside. The house is situated in the middle of the village of Penderyn and most places are within easy walking distance including the Lamb Inn and Penderyn Whisky Distillery. The Red Lion is also just a short walk - but uphill on the way there. Penderyn provides a great base for exploring the Brecon Beacon's National Park and 'waterfall country'.

The house at 25 Pontpren can be traced back as far as the 1881 census, when the head of the household was a 65-year-old widow, Jenett Davies. She lived there with her daughter, Mary (aged 31), and grandsons William (aged 17 years) and Joseph (aged 9 years). William was a labourer in a limestone quarry - which could well be the same quarry that remains open just up the road, although there are a number of old quarries in the area.
Most of the stone work you can see in the picture above dates back to that time.
I bought the house in November 2008 and began a total renovation that was completed in 2017.
